What is Hard Water?
Hard water is water that has a high concentration of dissolved minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium. These minerals are naturally present in the earth and can dissolve in water as it flows through rocks and soil. The amount of minerals in water can vary depending on the location and source of the water.
The presence of these minerals can make the water feel "hard" or create mineral build-up in pipes, appliances, and other water-using equipment.
